Under the Pol Pot regime (1975-1979) communist China thought that airport in Kampong Chhnang province would serve its geopolitical and military interests. Under the Hun Sen regime the same communist China thinks that the projected Phounan canal in Cambodia will also serve its geopolitical and military interests.
